“THE OCEAN SPIRITS” by Katarzyna Kalumiere
The exhibition "The Ocean Spirits" by Katarzyna Kalumiere is a deeply reflective presentation that takes the viewer into the world of the mysterious Canary Islands. During the pandemic, when restrictions affected artistic activities, Kalumiere found a source of inspiration in nature, creating works that combine portraits of people with the harsh but beautiful landscapes of the islands. These unique photographic collages express a longing for freedom and closeness to nature that have been temporarily taken away.
During the 2022 Venice Biennale, "The Ocean Spirits" collection was presented at the prestigious Palazzo Bembo, which was one of the most important moments in the artist's career. This exhibition demonstrated her ability to create visually intriguing works that also evoke deep emotions and reflections.
Katarzyna Kalumiere is known not only for her publications in Vogue, the German Kaltblut and the American Obvious Magazine, but also for numerous awards and distinctions in international photography competitions, such as Monovisions Photography Awards and IPA (International Photography Awards). Her collection of black and white photographs, presented in this exhibition, takes the viewer back in time, evoking nostalgic images from an era full of elegance and charm, in the style of "Breakfast at Tiffany's". Throughout her career, Kalumiere has won numerous awards, including the Monovisions Photography Awards and the IPA (International Photography Awards), which has strengthened her position in the world of photographic art. The artist, active since 2012 as a photographer, producer and artistic director, has collaborated with many famous brands and artists, such as Maciej Zień, the Tubądzin brand, Modivo and Bittersweet Paris.
